I won a ribbon at my guild's show

I was surprised and pleased that my quilt "Flower Frenzy" won a ribbon: first place contemporary, individual! This happened at the  Flying Geese Quilt Show, aka Harvest of Quilts this past weekend at Soka University in Aliso Viejo.

This was the quilt I made for the Sizzix blog hop last Spring. All the flowers and leaves were made on a Sizzix die cutting machine.

Circle skirt

I just made this circle skirt for my granddaughter Sammy to wear for Halloween. She is obsessed with cats, and the Simplicity pattern had a kitty version, in addition to the usual poodle.
It comes with petticoat directions. What do you think? Do you think it is needed?
Curious Matilda had to come take a look.

Quilting Arts Magazine has Grandpa T!

I was flipping through the latest Quilting Arts Magazine, and I was thrilled to see that "Grandpa T and his Salad" was included in an article about Quilt Alliance's Animals We Love. Page 27, October-November issue. Woohoo, I am so surprised!

Love to embroider

A tiny tear in my pants provided a creative opportunity.

Recent artful projects

Accessories for me, from vintage Alpha fabric. The bigger one is for my Mac Book Air, the smaller one for phone...
A doll made recently in my First Friday group. Jeanette Kelly originally taught us the techniques.
A second purple dog, ordered by a friend:
The rest are items I made for my soon to arrive second granddaughter. So fun to sew tiny things!

Can't forget the first purple dog.

Five Art Quilts out and about!

I have just updated my calendar of Coming Events, seen in the column on the right. And I have 5 art quilts out and about, to be seen in public places between now and November!

Now the magic happens....

My Oasis Quilt

I don't think I have mentioned yet that one of my quilts got accepted into the Oasis exhibit, which will debut at the new Mancuso quilt festival in PalmSprings, which is also called Oasis. My quilt is called "Oasis in the Time of Drought."
The dates of Quiltfest Oasis are October 8-10, at the Palm Springs Convention Center.

Yet Another purple dog underway

I put the first purple dog on Instagram, which I am a total newbie at btw, and I got orders for two more! These are from people I know. I wasn't expecting that.
But I said yes, and here is the first one started. I'm not making it just like the other one, because that's boring. I didn't start it until I finished a 6" block for Frances Holliday Alford's 70th bday, and the baby quilt. I need to photograph that before I pass it on. I also made another hexie baby ball. Some of you remember the one I made for my first granddaughter, and I taught a couple classes at Flying Geese Quilt Shop.
This is the new one,  a little different:
Two views of same ball.
