photos from teresa shippy workshop

I had a fun play day recently, painting on fabric at Teresa Shippy's house. Here are some of the fabrics hanging on the clothesline. Old tin tiles and metal grates were used to make a pattern on the painted fabric.

Here's a closeup of my green silk fabric. I'm really happy how it turned out. The vintage tile had chipped paint and was somewhat rusty, and it added texture to my piece.

I was very happy with this turquoise piece, too. jo griffith was there, too, making wonderful things. We had a great time! Teresa made a fresh peach cake for us to enjoy, when we went inside to escape the sun.

Meanwhile, at home I made some more words with the beautiful old set of letters that Carol McDaniel gave me. You'll see more photos of the related project soon.

This is the first time I've had an anthurium plant rebloom. It is doing great in our backyard!

We have a few pomegranates growing....

I've been lax in posting on my blog. Sorry, maybe it's the dog days of summer? I have been busy working on a quilt for Samantha. Photos soon! In the meantime, here are some photos from my garden.
There are even some kumquats ripening in August! This surprises me because I had a huge crop in January. Maybe the trees are confused by the weird weather we've had.

And finally, here is my plum tree, resplendent with cd's and twisty thing, to scare away the birds away. After I took this photo I added one more CD dangler for good measure. Hmmm, maybe a quilt someday?

prayer flags, and surf's up

My prayer flags are now hanging in my sister-in-law Marti's house. So glad she likes them!

My daughter and family stayed for a few days at a beach in Rhode Island. Surf's up!

Sammy Cakes loved it. She's been taking swimming lessons at home, so she was able to enjoy the water.

I'm amazed at how she's grown.

Meanwhile, at home I've been busy getting my art studio more organized. It's looking much better! I will take photos and share. I was too embarrassed to take any "before" photos. I need to take photos soon, before it's a mess again!
