12" Square Auction coming up

Studio Art Quilt Associates' 2009 Benefit Auction will start in 2 weeks!! It's SAQA's most important fundraiser, providing funds for SAQA's exhibitions, publications and outreach programs. Please take a minute to check out the wonderful 12" square artworks that have been created and donated by our members. The Auction will begin online at: www.saqa.com/newsebulletins/Squares09_1.aspx on September 10th at 2:00 Eastern.

I need to dig up the photo of my 12" square. I don't think it's in the first group to be auctioned off. I'll put the photo up when I find it.

Today I'm working on my "Summer" quilt. Photos soon!

artful trip to colorado

Arrgh, I wish the photos would load in the order that I downloaded them. It's a pain in the neck trying to get them in the order that I would like. To heck with it - here's a hodge podge of photos from our trip to Colorado.

That's me at the top of the mountain when we took the gondola ride in Telluride. What a beautiful little town!
The raven is a gorgeous sculpture I saw in Park City, Utah.
The quilt is an update of my very first pattern, from 1994. It's called "Hidden Investments." The old quilt looked so dated, so I made this one. The pattern is available from Jukebox. They'll have a booth at this weekend's Rocky Mountain Quilt Festival in Loveland, Colorado. And the opportunity quilt from the show is from my pattern, "Heart Strings."

We saw this deer (or is it an elk?) in my father-in-law's neighborhood in Colorado Springs. He's shyly nibbling at the shrubbery.

The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, as featured in "The Shining."

One day we went to Cripple Creek. The big casinos are moving in, but there are still remnants of the rustic old mining town.

Long Beach Vidcasts!

If you click on the link below, you will reach a Quilts Inc page with info about the Long Beach Quilt Festival. On the bottom left of the page (I had to enlarge the page a bit to see it on my laptop), you'll see Vidcasts. Click on that, and you will see videos about the Edges, Detours and other special exhibits. My "Fifteen Selvedges" is among the quilts featured in the Edges video. And I am one of the people interviewed in the Detours video. I'm near the end - several of my friends also speak on the video. It's kind of unnerving to see oneself on a video, but anyway it's kind of fun, so check out these videos.
