More baby love

Almost five months old. Both grandmas came to visit today, and Valentina loved it.

What I'm working on, and Gramps is up!

I am busy working on a new quilt with a June deadline. I can't talk about it in specifics or show anything, but I hope I can say I am having lots of fun playing with fabrics. I love this part of the process!

Grandpa T, aka Gramps, is awake now, very active and busy wandering all over our back yard.

Inside, the baby tortoises are celebrating his awakening,
As are Bob and Denise and Alex's babies, part of the same litter. They are visiting for the weekend.
There is further evidence of tortoise love throughout the house:

Perhaps I have overdone it?

One more Quilt Con photo

Here's one more photo from Quilt Con, taken by Julie. That's me with the Tomato Traveler purse.  It sure was a great quilt festival!

I am working on quilts that I wish I could share, but you know the routine. I will show them when the right time comes. One is for the Flying Geese Quilters fabric challenge, "All Creatures Great and Small." The top quilts will be submitted to the big show in Paducah, so this is something to hope for. I've never been to Paducah, never even entered a quilt.

The other quilt is for the Dinner @ Eight invitational. And then there's that Valentine quilt I've been meaning to make, for that sweet little Valentine in my life! Lots to do, and I'm excited about it.

A visit down south

Our visits are always too short, but we had a pleasant visit and lunch with Warren, Cia, Valentina, and Lily. Here are a few great photos I came away with.

The Lotus Cafe in Encinitas is so healthy and delicious. I had a vegan lentil curry soup that was to die for!

And here are two more bonus photos taken by Cia.

Quilt Con in Pasadena!

I spent much of last Friday and Satirday at Quilt Con! It is a Modern Quilt event that has been held previously in Austin. So this was its first time on the west coast. I went with my friend Julie Schlueter. Even though neither of us are Modern quilters, we still had a wonderful time.
I didn't mean to start a button collection, but I ended up with one, anyway!
That's Julie in blue, heading off to look at the quilts. There were some beauties! I wish I had taken more photos.

On Friday night there was a reception sponsored by C&T books. Wowsers, quilt star Luke Haynes was there! Afterwards we had dinner with a fun group. We gave a toast to Yvonne Porcella and to strong women.
There were many notables there, but I was excited to meet Lotta Jansdotter! I told her I had her book, which I used a lot when Sammy was a baby. I also told her I love her fabric. A scrap of one is below.

Good times!

Weekend in Encinitas

A couple of weekend ago, we stayed over in Encinitas to celebrate our son's birthday. Here are a few photos from that fun time.
Of course, Valentina was the center of attention. We stayed at the Black Orchid B&B.
A few more photos in the next post!
