Fun photos

Some random photos taken recently during a visit from my daughter, granddaughter and son in law.
There was a rainbow in Carlsbad, where we went to celebrate my son's birthday.
There were a few rain drops, too, the first in months.
Warren liked the new messenger bag we gave him. It will work great for his new job!
Beach day. The weather wasn't great, but much warmer than back home on central NY!
Samantha on the carousel at the Spectrum. She had to ride in the Mimi-like giant kitty!

Riley Blake Challenge

I have finished my entry for the Riley Blake Challenge, and here are the pix! It is 24" high and 17 1/2" wide. I was inspired by the pomegranates that ripened on our tree in November and the crows that tried to get to them first.

New fingerless gloves

I recently finished these, while my sewing machine was at the shop. I am happy how they turned out. It was yummy hand-dyed yarn I bought at the Hamilton farmers market in central NY. I'm keeping these! I used the Aegean Mitts pattern by Amy Polcyn, available through Interweave knitting patterns.

Quilt from Stacy

A while ago, I commissioned a small quilt from my friend, Stacy Hurt. Her calligraphy is awesome, and it's something i can't do. Plus she is just plain talented. I requested an inspirational quote and blues and greens. So here it is, and I love it!

Collaboration Reception

The reception for the Collaboration exhibit was really nice! Here is a link to the Whittier Art Gallery with photos and information. I will post my own photos when I have time.

I am busy organizing my file cabinets so we can find everything. My dear Bernina was at the repair shop since December 19, so I've kept busy doing handwork and some organizing around the home. The Bernina is back, but I'm trying to finish the filing project before I even look at it!

What's For Dinner Quilts going to Chicago!

I just heard that the"What's For Dinner" exhibit, which debuted in Houston on October, is scheduled to go to the International Quilt Festival in Chicago in June of 2014! My quilt, "Ravioli di Verdura," is part of it. Yay!

Meanwhile, my sewing machine has been at the shop for repairs since December 19th. It probably won't be ready for another week. I have been doing lots of hand work, as you saw in my previous post on the Riley-Blake challenge, plus I have completed one fingerless glove in the most gorgeous hand-dyed yarn. The second glove is underway. I have also organized some kitchen drawers and the file cabinet in the dining room. So there are benefits to having the sewing machine in the shop!

Riley Blake challenge

Happy 2014! So is anyone else a member of the Modern Quilt Guild and doing the Riley Blake challenge? I am, yes to both. Except that I haven't been to any meetings. I'm a lurker I guess. Anyway, here is a detail of my work, still in progress.
