A visit to NY, June 2015

I have taken so many photos of our visit to NY, that I don't know where to start. So bear with me while I post the best ones.
Sammy just turned five, so she opened some gifts while we were there.
Holding the kitty I just made her.
Wearing the dress I made her. Oliver and S, Croquet Dress size 5.
Green and Pink are instant best friends.

Tour of Pittsburgh

We spent a couple nights in Pittsburgh recently. Here are some random photos.
It started pouring just after our arrival. We had sun and showers throughout our stay.
This strange cluster of buildings was built by a plate glass company.
We saw some killer views of the city from Mount Washington. More like a hill from where I come from, lol. But the views were wonderful.
Here in Pittsburgh is the confluence of three rivers: the Allegheny, Nangahila (I know I spelled that wrong) and the Ohio.
We took a funicular ride at the Duquesne Slide (pronounced ducane) with Tom and Nancy, friends we hadn't seen in ages.
My first attempt at a pano photo on iPhone turned out a little screwy! It added a curve in the road that wasn't there.
A goofy infrared image of us taken at the Carnegie Science Center!

We enjoyed our stay in Pittsburgh - the food was fab - but had to leave in a hurry because the Rolling Stones were about to take over the city!

Sammy Turns Five

We weren't there, but we will be soon. Here are a few photos of Sammy's 5th birthday.

She got a new scooter. Check out the cake that Martine made! Jack and Sammy made the piƱata. That's Auntie Jema by the watermelon.

A wee project that went too fast

Tiny baby hat, started on an airplane and finished the next day. That was fast! Now what? This goes with the sweater posted recently.

Finished kitty

Here she is, finished and ready to mail to my granddaughter in NY. I gave her a green one about two years ago, and she still plays with it, a lot! So I figured I should make another little kitty friend. Stufflings pattern by Ginger Melon.

Of cats and things unspoken

So I recently finished one quilt that I can't discuss, and also began another one that I can't talk about (on the left). In between quilts, I sewed that dress for Sammy and knitted that tiny sweater for another little sweety-to-be. And this little kitty is underway, because my granddaughter is obsessed with cats. I already made her one in greens. Anyway, I'm showing you this because I can't talk about the other, bigger things.

Quilt Alliance Recognition

I am happy to announce that my entry won Judges Choice and Honorable Mention awards in the Quilt Alliance "Animals We Love" contest. Here is my quilt, "Grandpa T and his Salad." I won ten spools of Aurifil Thread. Yay!

Marianne Fons, one of the judges, had very nice things to say about my quilt. I am so grateful.

Busy Grandma

I just finished this dress for my granddaughter! It will be a gift for her 5th birthday.
I also recently finished this sweet, tiny sweater, size 0-3 months.

Who is it for, you may be wondering? Cia is pregnant, due in November. :-) The baby will need a sweater to keep warm and cozy.

Best Buddies

First I saw these two...
Then these two...
Then these two.

The ducks have been hanging around our neighborhood for the past several days.
