hop, skip, jump blog hop

Hi there, I'm Cindy Cooksey, and welcome to my blog, on Day 2 of the hop skip jump blog hop.
I was invited to make a 18" quilt square to promote Jamie Fingal's new fabric line from RJR Fabrics, called hopscotch. These come from hand drawn designs from Jamie's notebooks.

This is the fabric I chose from her line. Isn't it yummy? With names like Loop de Loop - Grass, Deconstructed Dandelions - Chalkboard, and Intertwining Puddles - Tomato. Cross Hatch - Zebra. There are 83 different fabrics in the line, which made it hard to choose just ten. But I love the colorful ones I selected.

I had a design all worked out by the time I received the fabrics in the mail, and the quilt went together easily. I rearranged the flowers a little, to improve the balance of the design, and machine quilted it.

I was thrilled by the intense colors!

A touch of hand embroidery here and there.

11 different designs, 83 different fabrics.
The line will debut at Spring Quilt Market in St. Louis in mid-May, and the fabric will ship to stores in
August.

Just for the Halibut at Jewels of the Sea exhibit

I made this for the "Jewels of the Sea" Challenge by the San Francisco School of Needlework and Design, and it is there on display until March 4. The address is 360 Post Street, Suite 604. I am told it is across from Union Square. There's a reception/party next Saturday from 11-4, and I will be there, come hell or high water! Which may be the case, because there is a lot of rain going on up there and flooding in some places.

I updated this post since I first wrote it, because the photos needed to be tweaked. Here I am with Miss Halibut at the exhibit!

Prayer flags

I made some prayer flags recently. They are part of an exchange with my First Friday Fiber Artists group.

I didn't have much time to work on them - lots going on! Quick and dirty. But I am happy with the results.
