End of trip photos

A few more photos from our NY trip.

She was so proud to finish this new puzzle we gave her.
We spent a little time in Cooperstown at the Otesaga, a lovely resort on a lake. It drizzled most of the time, and lots of weddings were going on. We celebrated our 45th anniversary here! The next day my son texted me that he and Cia had just gotten married, so we share the same anniversary. :-)

Sad news

I already posted this on Facebook, but my oldest brother Jim died on the 19th. He had been incapacitated for almost a year by a brain aneurism. We are surprised that he survived for so long; it showed a tenacity and inner strength. My niece Amity made a tribute on FB much better than I can do. What can I say? We will miss him a lot. We didn't get along so well as little kids, but he grew into a gentle, good natured man, always curious and finding joy in many things. He was a talented artist and an able teacher at a Los Angeles middle school. After he retired, he and his wife Kathy embraced retirement, taking all sorts of classes and activities such as bowling, ukulele, kayaking. They moved up to Roseville a few years ago to be closer to their grandchildren, and that is where we will be saying goodbye to him, soon.

Here are a few photos from when we were young. We always looked happy in those old photos. Maybe we got along better than I remembered.

What I'm working on

As I said before, I am working on three quilts, two art and one baby. So here is a peek:

It still needs to be attached to the canvas frame. These are mostly Guatemalan fabrics from my centenarian friend Alpha, who passed away last year at 101. OMG, this woman had quite a stash!

And these are blocks for Warren and Cia's baby. I will be making several more blocks. Windmill blocks, template given to me years ago by my friend Lynda.

Pre-k Graduation in NY

While we were in NY, we got to attend our granddaughter's graduation from Pre-K. I was amazed to see the little tikes in real caps and gowns!

They were given their diplomas on the stage and celebrated afterward with ice cream. Then we went to Michaels in Watertown for a delicious dinner.

Just a few more trip photos to go. Meanwhile, we are busy here at home. I am working on three quilts - two are art quilts and one is a baby quilt. I'm excited about them all and will share photos of two of them very soon. The third is for a juried show, so I can't talk about it yet.

More photos from NY trip

We got to meet Beau the cat for the first time. He sure is handsome. Notice he is posing with Green and Pink and, of course Sammy.
We went to see an Impressionist exhibit at the Munson Williams Proctor Art Institute in Utica. Sammy is playing with an interactive color play gadget.
It was getting close to July 4, so they put up bunting on the balcony of our hotel.

Another day, we went to the zoo in Utica.

My son got married!

News flash! My son Warren and his girlfriend, Cia, ran off to Palm Springs and got hitched! Sure, of course I wish we could have been there, but we couldn't be more happy for them. Yay!

Affinity Special Exhibit

I am happy to say that my quilt, "Spring Comes Late," got accepted into the Affinity  special exhibit curated by Dinner at Eight Artists. Yippee! So it will be shown at International Quilt Festival in Houston in October. Quilt and detail photos below.
